New Year Resolutions – 2019

January 1, 2019

It’s finally 2019! I say that like it took centuries to get through 2018, but actually, the year went by pretty quickly. I remember that January and February of 2019 did seem to take a long time, then March through December went by fast. I am pretty excited for what’s to come in 2019, and I hope that everyone has a great year as well.

My New Year Resolutions

  1. Take better care of my skin
  2. Write more
  3. Procrastinate less
  4. Eat healthier
  5. Try to stay more organized

I decided this year to try to stay minimal with my new year resolutions, because I didn’t want to overwhelm myself. Instead, I am going to give myself smaller goals on a more weekly or monthly basis throughout the year. I find that I get more disappointed if I have a huge list of resolutions or goals, and mess up on them.

These top five resolutions are my main goals for the year, and what I need inspiration on the most. I already started off on my list today, and spent most of my morning deep cleaning my bedroom. Over the holiday’s it tends to get messy and crowded, and I took a few hours to try to throw away things that I have been holding onto for too long. I also re-organized a lot as well, and I already feel so much better.

Above is my new 2019 planner, and I am so thrilled to use it. Nothing feels better than having a new planner to start the year off with.

What are you looking forward to this year? Got any resolutions you want to share? Let me know in the comments below.

Other than my blog, I regularly post on Instagram. Be sure to give me a follow @annamaxwell018 or @LittlebitPatchCo for updates on my daily life.

|9/16/18| New Projects and Fall Fever

September 16, 2018

Sunday | September 16th, 2018

I honestly have had the most creative and inspirational month of my life. It’s been a little over a month since I did my first ever journal blog post, and I certainly didn’t plan on taking this long of a break before doing another one. I have also kind of slacked off on regular blog posts, as I have just been so incredibly focused on other projects. One of which is something I can’t wait for, but I am not quite ready to put it out on the Internet yet. I feel like I need to perfect somethings before I can share it.

One of my new Fall candles

My Adventures in Photoshop and Illustrator

The new project I am working on requires me to actively use Photoshop and Illustrator. Before this project, I assumed I was relatively knowledgeable about Photoshop. I didn’t know that much about Illustrator, but I figured it would be similar to Photoshop so I would be fine. I was so incredibly wrong.

I apparently didn’t know really anything about Photoshop, and spent several long hours teaching myself how to do what seems like very simple things. Then when I finally got around to needing to use Illustrator, it was like starting the entire learning process over again, as Illustrator is pretty different from Photoshop. Yes, there are obvious similarities, as they are both Adobe apps, but they have a lot of differences. I’m hoping to keep improving on these two over the next couple weeks, and maybe it’ll make this new project a lot easier.

My Fall Fever

Over the past couple of weeks, I have had some major Fall fever. No, I don’t mean that I have been walking around craving pumpkin spice lattes. I actually don’t like Pumpkin flavored drinks at all. I’m talking about how Summer has been an absolute mess, and I need a season change ASAP. It’s been so incredibly hot and humid where I live, and I am completely over it. Summer usually is my favorite season, but this year has been brutal. I want to be able to go outside and enjoy myself, and that’s usually what Fall is all about. That and being able to start wearing leggings every day.

Bath & Bodyworks and Pinterest

I have already gone to Bath & Bodyworks and stocked up on most of their Fall scents, and if Fall doesn’t start soon I am going to end up broke as I’m spending way too much on Fall scented candles. Another thing is that if you follow me on Pinterest, you know that I am already well into pinning for Fall and Halloween. I love the aesthetic of Fall photos, and there is so much beauty in capturing the change of seasons.

I don’t really have an excuse for my excessive pinning of Halloween pins. Most of it is Halloween themed food or drinks that I think is cute and that I want to try, Let’s be honest, probably won’t ever get around to making any of them, but it’s nice to dream.

My cat Littlebit, and I used one of the new Fall edits I’m trying out

These past couple of weeks have been incredible(despite the hot and humid temperatures.) I got to work on a lot of creative projects, and I feel so fulfilled and happy with myself. This past week, in particular, has been incredibly productive for me, and I forgot how good it feels to not procrastinate all my work until last minute. Next week I will be focusing on school, and I’m house sitting for one of my aunts. I’ll have a lot of free time on my hands, and I’m planning on spending a lot of it continuing to work on my creative projects. Hopefully, I’ll have a final product to share with you all soon.

New Instagram Theme for July

July 13, 2018
Changing My Instagram Theme

If you have been following me for a while(here or on Instagram), you know that I love working with my Instagram. I love making changes and see the new flow of a new theme change. I am also pretty passionate about photography, mine, and other peoples. With that in mind I decided that for the month of July, I will be trying out a new Instagram theme. Who knows, I might not like it and decide to change it again in August, or it could become a more permanent thing. I also want to note that this change is primarily going on my personal Instagram account, the blog Instagram account will be staying mostly the same. Although, I do plan on trying to make changes on that one once I build it up some more.

My New Instagram Theme

My new theme will be fairly simple, and hopefully easy to keep up with. I don’t know about you all, but one thing that I really don’t like is when it feels more like a struggle to post photos. I like to feel like I’m adding to a piece of art every day, and I want to “want” to post.

Over the past week, I did a trial run for my new theme to give you all an example of what my plan is. So far I am liking the changes, and I’m incorporating a lot of the landscape and nature photos from other sources(such as pexels.com), but I would love to incorporate photos from other photographers on Instagram.

I am playing off of using a diagonal type theme. One thread involves me, either selfies or full-length photos. Then I have two threads of landscape type photos that are on both sides of my selfie thread. Then the fourth thread is more random. The reason why I have the random thread is that I feel like sometimes I want to post something that isn’t just the same as the rest of the photos. I do however plan on sticking to a color theme that is green, white, black, and pink. However, I occasionally will post a pop of color here and there, as long as one of those colors is in the photo as well.

Want your photos to be featured on my Insta?

If you’d like for me to use one of your photos on my Instagram, let me know in the comments below or email me at annaissbusiness@gmail.com. I need the image you’d like me to use, and your Instagram handle. Mine, for example, would be @annamaxwell018 and I would attach the photo, and anything particular you’d like for me to say about your photo in the caption.

Pinterest Traffic Report: May 2018 (ALMOST 1M VIEWS)

June 4, 2018

Hello everyone!

One of my favorite hobbies is to scroll through Pinterest and find inspiration for my daily life. When I get on Pinterest, it is usually to pass time, but lately(this past year) I find that it is helpful when I need some vision. I kind of look at my Pinterest account, as a huge vision board for my life. Anything that inspires me to create or work towards(life goals), I want it on my boards. I don’t have that much of a structure, I just make boards for what inspires me. Lately, my focus has been Fashion, Travel, and Summer. I also have boards that are dedicated to food(dessert, drinks, ect.), planner stickers, and decor. I don’t really choose to have a specific theme for my Pinterest, because it is more for my creativity and vision than anything else.

My Pinterest Traffic Report

Even though I consider Pinterest to be a hobby, I also look at it as a job. Over the past year(or almost year, since September 2017), I have started to take Pinterest a little more seriously. Meaning, I spend more time pinning on my boards, and more careful about choosing what content to post. That being said, my top priority is still to pin what inspires me, but I also take in affiliate pins every once in a while. (This isn’t a post focused on affiliate pinning on Pinterest, but that will be coming soon!)

Below, I have a picture from September 30th, 2017, and it shows my monthly views and engagements.

Littlebit and Patch - Pinterest Stats 09-2017

Pinterest Stats for September 2017

Jump to Present Time

At that point in my life, I realized my Pinterest had been growing without me really realizing it, and I decided to pursue the growth aspect from then on. So, below is the monthly views and engagements as of May 2018.

I cannot believe the jump I’m getting in engagement and monthly views, I have gone through several different trials to get to this point, and I am very pleased with the results. I’m sure that there are people out there that may think that my improvement isn’t that significant, but I am happy with it. This is still something I consider to be a hobby, and the job aspect is still pretty laid back for me. However, the fact that I’ve actually made a profit from doing what I’m doing is enough for me.

How did I do it?

Most people assume that it’s as simple as 1, 2, 3… However, It actually was a long process, that changed quite a bit over the past several months. What worked for me, might not work for you, or not be your style. That’s okay. Everyone is different, and you can’t expect to have the same results as someone else. My main tip is to schedule your pins. Yes, you can still manually pin, but you want to try to have some consistency on your page. You don’t really want to post ten times today, not post tomorrow, post a couple times the next day, and then not post again for two or three days.

The way to grow in views and engagements is to have a steady flow of pins. I use Tailwind to schedule my pins, but there are plenty of platforms out there for you to schedule your pins with. (If you use my link to sign up for Tailwind, you can get a $30 credit to use Tailwind up until June 17th!)

Have a variety

I also keep track of what pins are performing higher, and tend to repin some of those pins and find more pins like them. While I don’t do this for all my boards or all my pins, just on boards that perform better. I do recommend having a variety of pins, and not just the same concept of pins. It makes for a more attractive board to have a variety.

I have a lot of plans to grow my Pinterest even further, and I also would love to share my journey with you all. I am planning to do posts on my journey, as well as my journey with affiliate marketing on some of my pins. The options are endless, and if you have any ideas or questions related to Pinterest be sure to put them in the comments below. Or go to my Instagram or Twitter, and I would love to help you from there.

May 21, 2018

Hello everyone!

I have been scrolling through Instagram a lot lately, and I have come to realize that I follow a lot of hella awesome boss lady bloggers. These three people show up more often than the other people I follow, and with good reason. If you’re new to being a blogger on Instagram, these influencers are perfect inspiration and guidance as you start your journey as a blogger on Instagram. Each of the bloggers I show below fall under lifestyle, travel, fashion, food, or beauty influencers. Even if you aren’t new to the Instagram scene, I would recommend checking these lovely ladies out below, as their photos are incredible.

Craft and Baking Blogger – @sprinklemepinkblog

When I came across this Instagram, I almost couldn’t hit the follow button fast enough! Her photos are so bright and colorful, and all of her baking shots make me want all of the desserts ever in the world. If you are into colorful crafts and desserts, this is the blogger to follow!

St. Patrick’s Day 2018

March 21, 2018

Hello everyone!

I had a pretty busy St. Patrick’s Day this year, and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite moments. Starting with what my favorite treat was, and my favorite activity. Lately, I have been trying to eat healthy and exercise regularly, and so far, I’m doing a pretty good job.  However, I find that the best way for me to maintain a mostly healthy diet is to have some sort of cheat snack every once in a while. I say “snack” instead of “meal” because if I do cheat and splurge on something it’s usually a craving for something sugary or salty, and it doesn’t take much to satisfy that craving.

St. Patrick’s Day Dessert

I knew I wanted to do some sweet treat for St. Patrick’s day, and I thought donuts would be good because I could grab a donut for that cheat snack if I needed it. A good cup of coffee was just perfect for this sweet treat. Plus, I wanted to do something festive for the holiday. So this happened…

St. Patrick’s Day 5K

I have to say, I did end up eating more than just one donut, but I couldn’t help it. They were delicious! I didn’t feel too bad about it either because my mother and I did a 5k this morning. Notice, I specifically don’t say the word “run” because let’s be honest, I walked the entire time. It was the Shamrock Shuffle 5k at Marietta Square. My favorite part about this was the amazing scenery we got to see as we walked. Some of the houses around the area clearly have so much history and beauty.

The good news is that I hit my step goal of 10,000 for the day, the bad news is that I was sore after it. It wouldn’t have been so bad if I didn’t have to do all my grocery shopping that same day. I got a good night of sleep though, so I guess it was worth it.

Let me know in the comments below what you did for St. Patricks Day, and be sure to follow my Instagram for regular photos of my daily activities.

Say Hello to Littlebit and Patch

March 16, 2018

Hello everyone!

My name is Anna Maxwell, and this is my new blog Littlebit and Patch. This is not my first rodeo when it comes to blogging. I’ve had a few blogs in the past, my most recent was called Scribble Serendipity. I had a few reasons why I decided to move onto a new blog, but it was mainly due to my hosting. I had trouble with the blog host that I was using for my previous blog, but I can get into that in a later blog post.

What I’ve Learned From Blogging

It took me quite a while to come up with what I wanted my new blog to be. One thing I’ve learned from blogging is that it is a lot harder than it seems to figure out what exactly you want your blog to be. For me, I thought you could only be one thing, but I found myself wanting to branch out and do more. My blogs kind of ended up all over the place, and I feel like that’s what led them to fail. Or at least, one of the reasons.

With that in mind, I decided that for this new blog, I wanted to focus on two main topics: Lifestyle and Travel. I feel like with this setup, I can branch into other topics, but it keeps me focused on the main niche topics.

Why Littlebit and Patch?

As for the name, my inspiration for Littlebit and Patch is none other than my furbabies. Patch, my 14(almost 15)-year-old black labrador is a sweet old-man dog, and Littlebit, my 13-14ish fluffy white cat is a spoiled princess with heterochromia(two different colored eyes). While my furbabies are getting older, they have been such a big part of my life, and such a big inspiration for me.

My Goal

My goal for this blog is to enjoy it through my writing, photography, and experiences. I hope you all enjoy it just as much, and I can’t wait to start this journey.

Let me know in the comments below what you would like to see from me on this blog, and be sure to follow my Instagram for regular photos of my furbabies and my life.
